Your Energy Data is Getting an Upgrade

At EnergyFlex, we’re always looking for ways to make your energy data more useful, accessible, and valuable — while keeping it safe and secure. Recent regulatory updates to Australia’s Consumer Data Right (CDR) are designed to give consumers more control over their data and encourage innovative services that genuinely work in your favour.

On April 16, all existing EnergyFlex data sharing connections that you have set up will be stopped – you don’t have to do anything. You’ll receive email confirmation when this is completed (called a consent revocation).

To continue enjoying your EnergyFlex insights, savings tips, and rewards powered by your own energy data, you will need to consent and connect your accounts again in the EnergyFlex app. This step ensures your service continues and everything remains secure. You can re-connect any time from April 16. You’ll also receive an email confirmation when you connect again and it will be visible in your EnergyFlex app.

Why do you have to do this?

EnergyFlex is changing its own arrangements with its accredited Data Recipient (ADR) provider about how data is consented and accessed, under a new regulatory model.

When you connect and consent your account(s) again, this enables you to:

  • Keep your energy data securely stored in your EnergyFlex account
  • Maintain your usage history and insights over time
  • Access smarter savings tips, plan comparisons, and rewards
  • Unlock new app features

How your data can work harder for you

One of the key goals of Open Energy is to make it easier for consumers to use their data in ways that suit them. This includes tools that allow you to better understand, analyse, and share your own information if you choose.

These services can allow you to:

  • Export their data to familiar tools, like spreadsheets or analytics platforms
  • Invite trusted people or businesses to help analyse their energy data
  • Choose if and how their data is shared with third parties they control

How to re-consent

Re-confirming your consent is quick and easy:

  1. Open the EnergyFlex app and log in
  2. Follow the quick steps to consent to sharing your energy data to your account with EnergyFlex
  3. That’s it — your data starts flowing as normal

If you need help, our support team is ready to guide you step-by-step, and you can also check our FAQs about how your data is used and the benefits for you.

This update is about putting your energy data to work for you. By reconnecting your energy accounts, you keep your insights, savings, and rewards flowing, while staying firmly in control of your information.
